Have you gotten excited over a vacuum cleaner or a weed trimmer yet? That was my, holy shit I’m old moment. Man that thing sure can shampoo the carpet like a beast though.

I bought socks recently. Now that’s real excitement.

I got excited over the roomba. But that may have been more of a useless tech excitement than anything else.

Stocks are fun though. As long as you ignore the March-May time-frame.
EDIT: Socks are cool to though.

I brag about my trimmer still running after 20 years of use. :)

Ah. Yes. Socks.
I will say that the value I place on socks has increased in the recent years.

What model roomba do you have, and do you like it? I’ve been wanting one but with working from home these days the magic of “it runs while I’m at work” is a bit lost.

I’ve got a styling Staples Kroy chair sitting in a box behind me to replace my previous one which broke (Staples sent me replacement parts for that under warranty, but despite massive forces applied I couldn’t get the friction fit on the piston apart to rebuild it). I’m tempted to buy a much more expensive (and hopefully better) chair, but it does seem silly to spend $600+ instead of $110. I can buy a lot of mid-range Staples chairs for the price of a Herman Miller.

I’ll sell you mine. It’s only about 7 years old. Still runs great, I just hate it. I have dreams of the EGO with self loading line and carbon fiber shaft .

I have a 690, got it during PrimeDay last year.
And yeah, you nailed it. The part about it was that I could run it while I was at work, but now I’m at home, and it gets a lot less use
. The other issue is you need to be very conscious
about where your wires are, it will run right over them without care.

I actually bought this one used from a office supply wholesaler. $200 for a chair that retailed for $ 800-$ 100 0 was totally worth it for me.
New? Probably not...

I’ve been putting off a new chair purchase for a while. Next time I’m in the city, I’ll buy one.

I consider the wires thing a plus... forces me to not leave wires (and socks, and assorted other junk) lying around my place.

I just inherited one from my mom and saved another from the trash. I think I’m set for the next 40 years.

I have a 980, and it’s pretty good, though it can be quite loud. It’s also pricey (refurbs are normally priced at ~$400). Last month you could get a refurbished 960 on Amazon for $280, which is a pretty solid deal, but it’s back up to $400 now, at which price you should just get the 980 . You can get smart phone compatible 6-series ones for less, but IMO the rubber “debris extractors” on the 8, 9, and S series Roombas are a big step up over the brushes on the 6 series models.
I like them a lot in general. T he fact you can just set them to run daily or whatever really increases the amount of dirt you pick up by just vacuuming. Previous models did a random walk that would freak people out, but newer high and mid-range models do room mapping and try to follow an orderly pattern, though both should get the job done if run frequently. Newer models will also stop and recharge in the middle of a job if their power gets low, which is convenient.
Full disclosure: A friend works at iRobot and my 980 is development or refurb model he got me for free (which is awesome).

Made the same purchase yesterday. Went to an office furniture liquidators and bought a nice chair. Self care is ok.

I mean I’m on twitter enough to probably make some educated stock guesses.
